Breathing Lessons

So the evenings are crisp, the trees look breezy and my yearly round of A.M. weather questions have begun..."Is it cold outside?".."Do I need a sweater?".. I mean when I think about it, it shouldn't matter what it is outside because in the backseat of my car along with fuzzy stuffed friends stands my weather basket..I have had this lovely basket in the backseat for a couple of years now. I LOVE IT!! It holds gloves of varying thickness--including my favorite mittens--, a raincoat, a dressy shaw (for an unexpected dressy moment), a couple of lightweight jackets, a light summer sweater, a flowy hair scarf for blow-me-down metroplex days, a lint brush, a quick purse, and a movie cup that gets me diet coke for a dollar @ my favorite movie theater for the whole year.. I am always fishing in that basket for a last minute freezing need..

But I love this time of year it whispers change is coming but it announces the beauty of glorious changing trees stepping into their autumn color garb..

As Pjo (my Sweet hubs)and I were driving home from Gtown this weekend after a lovely visit with family we saw the oddity of a cow eating grass by her lonesome.. but not only was she eating by herself she was outside the fence of her other feasting friends near the busy-trafficy I-35..Wuh-oh!

Did she really think the grass was greener on the other side? Oh my, how I wanted to turn around and shew her back into her comfort zone. Go Back! Go Back! But, she was in blissful obliviousness. How I hoped she wouldn't eat herself to restful slumber on the wrong side of the fence...cow tipping would surely be hazardous..

But I wonder, how often we look for the "greener" side of things..Hoping for what isn't, yet restless in what is. How hard is it sometimes to just .Be. and .BeGlad.

How Jesus encourages us to love today..to not even plan for tomorrow because the gift is today..the dwelling of 24 hours that can hold promise, joy and dreams.. Even if it is not all the we want, expect, or desire..we have breath and that breath is the most precious act of worship that we can give back to our Creator..One of my fave music artists m.redman has a beautiful song thats lyrics so simple say "We are breathing this breath that you gave us to breath..to worship you..to worship you..
--hmm, I already feel refreshed, unrushed, and am completely satisfied in this passing second..

try to catch yourself, the next time you are longing for a better day and greener- other-side...Take a deep breath..whisper "Today"..and love it for all its worth
